Not a lot has been happening in the garden in the last month. It has been quite cold, with a few sunny days but mostly just dull and cloudy. In fact things are looking much the same as they did at the end of January.

The Hellebores have come into full flower – the double ones looking particularly good.

There are a few tiny dark pink cyclamen scattered around – very difficult to photograph – especially with only one hand! I would normally expect the first early daffodils to be out by now, but apart from one bud showing yellow in the sheltered front garden, there’s nothing. The only bulbs out are these Iris Histrioides Katherine Hodgkin, in a pot on the patio.

Not a very good demonstration of my tidiness – where did all that dead stuff come from? The Hebe threaded through it has butted in from a neighbouring pot.

Needless to say, the primroses and snowdrops are still going strong!

The first few days of March have been a bit milder and the crocuses are starting to flower on Hillmorton green. Is spring on the way?
